Training

At Rooks Heath we are constantly striving for continuos professional development for our staff.  Our team are encouraged to develop their skills and can attend a wide range of courses at different locations.  Some of the training courses we have undertaken so far are:-

  • City & Guilds Level 2, Level 3 and Diploma in Supporting teaching and learning in Schools from Shaftesbury High School Professional Development Centre.
  • Harrow Educational Psychology Services delivered Emotional Literacy Support and Assistance (ELSA)training.
  • Short courses to help us enhance our working practice, for example a team member is currently attending an 'Engaging BME and Refugee Communities' course which will help them in their practice working alongside and supporting different communities.
  • Level 2 and 3 Award in Communication Support for Verbal Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ELKLAN).

Postgraduate Students

We are also a professional base where postgraduate students are welcomed into our department and may work with some of our students. We have a great relationship with the University of Connecticut (UConn) and for many years, a small group of American students studying for their Masters degrees join us for a term.  Trainee Educational Psychologists who are studying for their Doctorate in Child and Educational Psychology join us as part of their High School placement in their first year.
