Extensive research has shown the benefits to students of reading widely for pleasure (for a summary of this research, see the UK government report Research Evidence on Reading for Pleasure). At Rooks Heath we aim to cultivate a love of reading for pleasure to maximise our students' academic success, literacy and wellbeing. To this end, the school's teaching staff have carefully selected a range of titles - the Rooks Heath Literary Canon - to complement and enrich the learning of our students from Year 7 to Year 13.
