Key Stage 4: Systems and Control
This course will interest the student who is interested in developing knowledge of and experience in ‘design’ and developing ‘making skills’ in a creative and original way, utilising a range of materials, mechanical ‘systems’ and electronic ‘controls’.
The students will be made familiar with many aspects of the design and manufacturing process, which they will be able to develop & present in a 20+ page A3 coursework folder. Concurrent with this in the workshop, in practical workshop sessions they will be introduced, through a series of compendious projects, to many aspects of the manufacturing process. The current projects being undertaken are mechanical toys, or automata. A knowledge of Health & Safety and an emphasis on environmental issues are fostered throughout the course.
