Opportunity through Learning

Extended Learning

Offsite Activities to enhance teaching and learning

In Harrow we are very lucky to have the Science Museum and Natural History museum on our doorstep in central London.  At Rooks Heath we ensure that students have the opportunity to enhance their learning environment by visiting these valuable sites.  Click here to read an account by some of the students who took part. To follow.  We are always keen to demonstrate science at work, so that science is put into context.  Recently, we have been involved in research with the University of Hertfordshire, have had speakers on understanding animal research and have been involved with the Blue Cross Animal Shelter.  Other exciting science activities have included a visit to the Sky television studios and the Guardian newsroom.

2012 / 2013

So far this year we have had a STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) speed networking event for the sixth form and a Biology residential field trip.  We are embarking on enrolling for the science CREST awards and this will involve students in year 6 from Heathlands, as well as students from Rooks Heath.
