Robot Challenge finalistsOn Friday 9th December five students from Rooks Heath were selected to attend a Robot Building

Challenge day at Oxford University. On a dark, cold winter's morning, we took the Oxford Tube. Once at Oxford, the schools present attended a lecture by an Oxford don. We learnt technical aspects of building a robot and also saw a half-foot sized robot walking, talking and even climbing steps!

There was a definite edge of competition as the teams battled it out, using Lego pieces to build a working robot. The robots were operated using a computer program and infra-red sensors. Rooks Heath just missed out on first place and came in joint second with another school. Visiting Oxford and its magnificent buildings was an inspiring event for all of us and definitely gave a wonderful flavour of what life at Oxford would be like.

Thank you to Miss Loughhead for taking us there and to Mr Vahora who arranged this trip for us. It was a fantastic experience!
