On Tuesday 28th January, The Les Miserables cast were surprised with a very special visit from Carrie Fletcher, who currently plays Eponine in Les Miserables in the West End. The students were really put on the spot and performed three songs that they had been rehearsing for their own performance. Unfortunately our very talented Eponine, Rea, was too poorly to come into school to sing her part in the final song 'One Day More'. However, luckily there happened to be another Eponine hanging around willing to sing with the students. Our cast certainly made us proud by singing alongside an established West End star without being phased.
The fun did not stop there as the music, drama, BTEC Performing Arts students and Les Miserables cast got the opportunity to ask questions about the industry. There were some very interesting questions and a fun story about a dramatic scene going slightly wrong when one character slipped off of the stage.
Later in the evening the students travelled to the West End to see Carrie in action playing Eponine on the big stage. They were mesmerised by the talent that they witnessed, and inspired to put the extra effort into rehearsals for the school production.
Just when they thought the night was over, they had another opportunity to meet Carrie as she accompanied us on the tube.
I would like to commend our students for their impeccable behaviour on the trip, which was commented on by theatre staff. I would also like to thank both Carrie Fletcher and Mrs Lamb for making such an exciting experience for our students possible.
