On Monday 9th March 2015, Year 8 students took part in a BMX cycling event. The event took place in school and each session lasted an hour. Many agreed that it was certainly worthwhile as we had so much fun.

The purpose of the event was to allow a free opportunity for students to pick up BMX cycling skills and gain confidence in riding a bike. Initially, most of us were quite unsteady, however, the instructors were extremely encouraging and helpful. As a result, by the end of the session we were all whizzing around!

Most of the activities consisted of us maintaining control whilst riding. We also took part in an activity where had to perform the limbo whilst on our bikes! It was tremendous fun and I would strongly recommend this course to other students. It was an hour which we all thoroughly enjoyed! Many thanks to the staff who organised it. Summayyah (8 Yellow)

The Bicycle Society came to our school to run a BMX cycling event. They were invited by Ms Grover (the Head of Year 8) to have a fun and informative day with us Year 8 students.

It was an awesome hour of my day! The whole of Year 8 did not take part; but 45 of us were interested and said ‘yes’ with the permission of our parents. We had a really good day, and even though I fell and still have a slight graze on my knee – it was a fantastic experience! The best part was the moment I put my helmet on for the first time and actually sat on a BMX cycle. Even though I fell, I enjoyed it a lot and I really hope Ms Grover organises it again. I would recommend the BMX skills day to anyone who loves having fun and who wants to learn more about riding bicycles! Riya (8 Indigo)
